Running Shoes

The types of running shoes you use are quite important and they should be chosen wisely. This is because they will determine whether you will be comfortable or in pain, whether you will remain healthy or you will get an injury during a running event. It is not enough to go for the trendy or popular shoes you see in the market and use them for running. There are a number of things you need to put into consideration before settling on a specific type shoes.

Lots of running shoesFirst of all, the shoe price is quite important when choosing the kind of shoes you will use for running. However, it is should not make you settle for shoes that are not suitable for running. Some of the shoes that are cheap may look quite similar to those expensive ones but they will be uncomfortable. Make a good compromise between the amount you spend on running shoes and the comfort they will give you.

Secondly, you need to know your feet well, not just the size but also whether it is overpronated, meaning it rolls inwards or underpronated where your shoe will tend to wear at the outer edges. If you have overpronated feet, where shoes that provide maximum support and motion control, on the other hand, people with underpronated feet should wear shoes that are cushioned properly with a soft midsole.  Some people have neutral feet and they should look for shoes that ensure stability.

In addition to that, you should carry the socks you use while you are running and fit a shoe while wearing them. You need to afterwards jog in the store to ensure you feel completely comfortable while in action. During the day, feet tend to swell and become large; similarly they do enlarge when you are in action. It is prudent to purchase running shoes towards the end on the day, when your leg is largest.

Also, ensure that the running shoes you settle for have an allowance of around 3/8 to ½ of an inch between the big toe and the end of the shoe. The heels should be tight enough so that the shoe does not slip out as you are walking. You must be able to wriggle your toes when you are in the shoes and they must be able to absorb shock while you are running. This requires shoes that have air spaces, Freon, gel among other materials. Finally, remember that your running shoes need to be replaced after covering 350 to about 400 miles even if they are in condition.
